# Why $COOK

> Purpose of the token and launching on OpenServ

## A token tied to a real product

* Homecooked is a working app in active development since **December 2025**
* \$COOK is directly connected to the app's growth

## Why we're raising

* The product is already built, the raise (i.e trading fees) will be used to bring in users
* Funds go directly into **marketing and distribution**, starting cost-effective UGC pipelines.
* Growth drives the [buyback mechanism](/token/value-accrual) that supports the token

## Why we're raising on crypto rails

* **Frictionless** — accessible fundraising without traditional gatekeeping
* **Engaged communities** — word-of-mouth distribution is essential for a consumer app
* **Network effects** — the community becomes part of the engine that grows the app, in turn driving value to the \$COOK token.

## Why we're launching on OpenServ

* Homecooked's AI runs on OpenServ — the [Sous Chef and recipe ingestion](/token/openserv) are powered by it
* Launching \$COOK on the **OpenServ launchpad** as part of OpenServ's Foundry program grants us access to the expertise and knowledge of the OpenServ team.
