The Sous Chef is the heart of Homecooked: an assistant that does the thinking for you. Ask it anything about cooking and it answers — grounded in your diet, your preferences, and what's actually in your kitchen.

## What it does

* **Recommends recipes and meal plans** — based on your diet, allergies, and pantry
* **Reads your pantry** — every answer fits what you actually have
* **Builds plans and lists** — ask it to plan your week or write your grocery list, and it does it
* **Answers any cooking question** — substitutions, techniques, doneness, fixing a split sauce
* **Starts you cooking** — hand off straight into step-by-step Cook Mode

## Why it's different

* **Backed by a real recipe database** — 1000+ recipes, tagged and filtered, tried and tested — not invented on the spot
* **It acts, it doesn't just chat** — can control all app features on your behalf: shows recipe cards, builds meal plans, and writes shopping lists
* **Always has your context** — your preferences, diet, and pantry carry across every session
